Celtic extend lead with Mayo Super League win

Castlebar Celtic delivered a masterclass in attacking football as they thumped Kiltimagh Knock United 5-1 at Celtic Park, extending their lead at the top of the Super League to four points.

The reigning champions took control early, with Jordan Loftus heading home a precise Jason Hunt cross in the 20th minute. Loftus doubled the lead just three minutes later, capitalising on a clever pass from Luke Kelly.

Jason Hunt added a third with a powerful strike from distance, leaving Stevie Gavin’s men comfortably ahead by the half-hour mark. Eoghan Hughes nearly made it four, but was denied by a brilliant block from KK’s Finn.

The second half saw more of the same dominance from Celtic. Loftus, in scintillating form, narrowly missed a hat-trick with a header that struck the underside of the bar. Ethan provided a brief glimmer of hope for Kiltimagh Knock United, but his effort was well saved by Hester in the Celtic net.

Loftus eventually secured his third goal from the penalty spot after being fouled, coolly slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 4-1. Luke Kelly capped off the scoring, nutmegging the keeper after being set up by Ben Murphy.

Cillian Finn managed to score a consolation goal for KK, but it was too little too late as Celtic's relentless pressure ensured they remained in cruise control throughout.
