Mayo candidate ditches posters in favour of charity donation

A LOCAL Mayo election candidate has ditched the posters and is instead supporting a charity.

Independent south Mayo Councillor Patsy O'Brien said he made a decision not to erect campaign posters in his bid to be returned to Mayo County Council. Instead, he has made a financial donation to Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Said Councillor O'Brien: “After canvassing for the last two months it has come up on the doorstep the great work the Mayo Roscommon Hospice is doing for our community.”

His decision has been warmly received by members of the public.
