Popular Mayo restaurant closes

A POPULAR restaurant in Castlebar has closed its doors.

Bistrot 1798, on Linenhall Street, announced its final day of trading over the weekend.

Costs were highlighted as the reason behind the decision to close the business.

A post on the Bistrot 1798 Facebook page explained: 'Due to recent costs in everything needed to uphold a business, we cannot keep our restaurant up and running any longer.

'We would like to thank all of our customers and people who have supported us throughout our time - we have made so many wonderful memories and met so many amazing people.

'We will miss our little restaurant, and will forever treasure the memories we have made here. Thank you to all who have helped us stay open since 2020 to today.

'Our warmest wishes and goodbyes, from everyone at Bistrot 1798.'
