MARY ROHAN, LOUISBURGH
Mary Rohan (née McGreal), West Roxbury, Boston, USA, formerly Doughmakone, Louisburgh.
Age 87, she died peacefully on September 22, 2024, surrounded her loving family.
Mary is survived by Patrick Rohan, her beloved husband of 61 years; by her five children, Kathy MacVarish and her husband, Robert of Hanover, Maureen Mullowney and her husband, Mike of Newton, Siobhan Dwan and her husband Bill of Hingham, Desmond Rohan of Dorchester, Patricia Roy of Plainville; and by her seven grandchildren, Michael, Patrick and Deirdre Mullowney, Delia and Shane Dwan, Christopher and Elizabeth Roy.
Mary was born and raised in Doughmakone, Louisburgh, and was the daughter of the late John and Nora McGreal.
She was the eldest sister of Betsy Carey, Kathleen Gill, John McGreal, Ann Belson, Tom McGreal, Pauline Thomas and the late Agatha Healey and the late Paddy Joe McGreal.
In 1956, Mary travelled from Ireland to the United States.
Since the day she arrived, Mary dedicated her life to others. She had amazing faith and devoted over 32 years caring for the clergy at St. Theresa of Avila Parish.
The 61 years of marriage that Patrick and Mary had was one of a kind, he was the love of her life; her family meant everything to her, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and visiting her brothers and sisters back in Ireland and England.
A wake took place at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA, yesterday (Sunday).
Funeral Mass was celebrated today at St. Theresa of Avila Church, in West Roxbury, MA, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
DENIS BARNICLE, MAYO ABBEY
Denis Barnicle, Knockrickard, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris.
He died peacefully at Mayo University Hospital.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret, parents, James and Ann Barnicle of Backfox.
Deeply missed by his loving daughters Priscilla and Anne, Priscilla's partner Jason and grand daughter Xenya, brothers Seamus, John Joe and Brendan, sisters Bridie, Patricia and Annette, sister-in- law Kate, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Reposing at Mayo University Hospital on Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. with removal afterwards to Taugheen Church.
Mass on Thursday at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Taugheen New Cemetery.
