Two significant Mayo property sales approved
TWO significant property sales in Castlebar were approved at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council yesterday (Monday).
The sale of the Imperial Hotel and adjoining Glenpark building to PJ Staid and Joe Egan, to develop as a 44-bedroom hotel, was described as an 'extremely exciting proposal'.
A portion of the Castlebar Military Barracks is being sold to accommodate a state-of-the-art College of Education and Training and this was welcomed as a very positive development that will have a significant impact in the region and county.
The council is looking at alternative arrangements for staff in the roads design office and motor tax office currently housed in Glenpark.
A motor tax office will continue to be provided in Castlebar, it was confirmed.
