Council issue notice for beach popular with Mayo visitors
Sligo County Council has issued an update regarding rip currents identified at Enniscrone Beach on Sunday.
In a statement, the council reminded beachgoers that, like many coastal areas, Enniscrone does experience rip currents. However, when lifeguards are on duty, a designated safe swimming zone is always clearly marked with red and yellow flags.
Visitors are urged to follow these safety precautions:
Always swim between the red and yellow flags, where lifeguards are on watch.
Do not enter the water when the red flag is flying, as this indicates dangerous conditions.
Seek guidance from lifeguards, who are present to ensure safety, offer advice, and provide assistance if required.
