Live music returns to popular Mayo venue with new run of gigs
Live music is back at Garbo’s music and events venue at Mayo Leisure Point, Castlebar, with four events announced for early 2026 - marking the venue’s return to hosting gigs.
Manager of Garbo’s Venue, Declan Kilkelly, and Cora Mulroy of Mayo Leisure Point, together with local promoters and musicians Finbar Hoban and Julianne Hennelly, say they are delighted to kick off the new year with a varied programme of community events and headline live acts. The headline acts are as follows:
Nostalgia Night
The series will kick off on Friday, February 20, with an event called Nostalgia, organised by Julianne Hennelly, featuring Luke and Zoe Davis, Paul Roberts and Danny Munnelly, with DJ Mark Gannon on the decks. Running from 8 p.m., the night will combine live music and DJ sets while raising funds for the family of Leigh Cresham, who is currently receiving medical treatment overseas.
Meryl Streek
On Saturday, February 21, Dublin-based artist Meryl Streek takes to the stage supported by south Mayo punk outfit Mart. Streek has toured with acts including Kneecap and Public Image Ltd and is known for his high-impact blend of punk and electronic music.
Slyrydes
On Friday, April 3, Galway post-punk band Slyrydes play Garbo’s in April, bringing their energetic live show to Castlebar. The band are noted for tackling modern Irish themes and mental-health awareness in their music.
Rugged Little Pill
Ireland’s leading Alanis Morissette tribute act comes to Castlebar on Saturday, April 11, as Rugged Little Pill take to the stage. The six-piece band will perform hits from one of the world’s most successful recording artists, whose albums have sold over 60 million copies worldwide, drawing from the Canadian star’s iconic back catalogue.
Garbo’s Venue looks forward to welcoming live music fans back, promising an exciting start to 2026 and signalling the return of live music to the popular Castlebar space. As always, Garbo’s is open for private and community bookings, including birthday celebrations, wedding parties, family reunions, retirement gatherings and corporate functions, as well as table quizzes, race nights and other bespoke private events.
Upcoming community events include Rotary Club charity table quiz night, on Thursday, February 26, at 8p.m. This is a fun night for a great local cause, and all proceeds will go to the Gráinne Mhaol Dragon Boat Club.
