Grand Marshal of Mayo county town parade is appointed

The organising committee of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Castlebar has announced the appointment of Adrian Coady as Grand Marshal of the 2026 event.

It is in recognition of the popular publican and undertaker's dedicated service to the event over a number of decades.

Adrian succeeds retired Irish Defence Forces Captain and Siege of Jadoville hero Noel Carey who filled the role with distinction in 2025.

The Castlebar parade gets underway at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 17, and the theme is: One Island, Many Voices.

It takes the customary route from McHale Road to Main Street via Spencer Street, the Mall, Ellison Street, Market Square, Chapel Street (sensory-friendly area), Newline, New Antrim Street and Linenhall Street.
