A Mayo poem for Easter time

An April Day.

'The dew lies soft upon a low-lying field

at seven o'clock on an April morning

The cows nostrils breathe out vapour

a rabbit hops by!

The hazy Sun peeps from the horizon

lighting the art of the spider webs

We stare at nature in wonder

listening to the silence.

The mid-day Sun covers the earth

fluttering new leaves in a gentle breeze

Bees buzz around stopping to refuel

at a pretty bunch of primroses.

A horse stands still behind a wooden fence

at seven o'clock on an April evening

A minnaune's song harmonizes the stillness

a bat flies by!

The deep red Sun sinks in the west

splashing the sky with purple stripes

Blending with the yellow furze landscape

flooding the mind with memories'.

Happy Eastertime
