Broadcasting voice of Mayo GAA set to take up key role with Fine Gael
Michael D. McAndrew, the voice of Mayo GAA on MidWest Radio, is leaving the station to take up a role with Fine Gael.
Following a recruitment process, his appointment as the party's regional organiser for the Connaught/Ulster constituencies has been confirmed by the party,
Michael D., a native of Glenamoy, is due to take up the position in mid-May.
As sports editor of MidWest Radio for a number of years, he was widely recognised for his live commentaries of Mayo senior football matches as well as other GAA encounters, as inter-county and club levels.
He was a member of the widely popular station for 15 years.
In his new position Michael D. replaces Castlebar man John Lohan, who has moved to a similar role with Fine Gael in the Dublin area.
