Mayo FC appoints Anthony O'Neill as senior men's team manager
Mayo FC has appointed Anthony O'Neill as manager of its senior men's team as the club prepares to take its first steps into senior men's football.
O'Neill, who previously managed the club's MU20 side, played a central role in building that squad from scratch.
He also brings experience from the League of Ireland environment, having worked with Galway United at both academy and senior level.
Club chairman Joe Faughnan said he was delighted to secure the appointment.
"We're really looking forward to the coming weeks as we announce more members of his backroom team and some exciting new signings," Faughnan said.
"This marks the first step for Mayo FC into senior men's football, and there are exciting months ahead for the club.
"Having worked with Anthony at MU20 level, he's been a breath of fresh air. He's an ambitious individual who successfully built an U20 team from scratch, and the senior setup will present a similar challenge."
O'Neill said he was proud to take on the role at what he described as a pivotal moment for the club.
"This is a project with real ambition, rooted in the community and driven by a clear vision for the future," he said.
"From the outset, my focus will be on building a competitive, hard-working team that represents the values of Mayo with pride.
"There's a huge opportunity here to bring people together and establish something that the entire county can get behind."
Further announcements on O'Neill's backroom team and new signings are expected in the coming weeks.
