Two Mayo LGFA clubs set for memorable Croke Park visit
A total of 64 clubs, representing all 32 counties, will be afforded the wonderful opportunity of playing at Croke Park next Sunday (April 19).
Making the exodus from Mayo will be neighbouring clubs Claremorris and Davitts, whose budding young stars will visit the famous venue for the LGFA’s annual Under 10 Go Games Activity Day.
Croke Park is set to hum with anticipation, excitement and energy as players get the chance to showcase their skills on the hallowed sod.
All counties were given the opportunity to select two clubs to be involved but they had to show evidence of a county-organised Go Games programme in order for this to happen.
The lucky clubs selected from local draws will be treated to a day which will provide memories to last a lifetime.
Players, mentors and spectators can expect some brilliant football, all played in a terrific and sporting spirit.
Go Games promotes full participation and fair play, while catering for the developmental needs of the participants.
All clubs will bring a panel of 20 players, with everyone having the opportunity to play in at least four mini-games throughout a morning or afternoon session.
Go Games rules will be employed at all times, with the games overseen by referees representing the participating clubs, who have all completed online training.
They will be ably supported by newly-qualified referees from the Na Dubh Ghall Club in Baldoyle, Dublin.
Speaking on behalf of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, President Trina Murray said: “I’m looking forward to another memorable occasion as we welcome players from all over the country to Croke Park for our Under 10 Go Games Activity Day. The joy and excitement on the faces of our young players as they step from the tunnel onto the pitch is something very special, and a reminder of what our games are all about.
“Days like this don’t happen without incredible teamwork, and I want to sincerely thank the players, mentors, parents, supporters, volunteers, match officials and LGFA staff who continue to work so brilliantly together to create such unforgettable experiences for our future stars.”
