Free Mayo outdoor music festival set to return this summer
The little group of volunteers behind the Castlebar Music Festival have gotten together and decided to do it all again this year.
While the headliners will change, the premise of having a free outdoor event to bring music to everyone is still the core value for the group.
The feel-good atmosphere around the town during the event last year gives us hope that this could really be something to keep going with for the town.
The support bands are yet to be named but the committee are delighted to announce that IE/DC are making a welcome return after their amazing performance last year.
The main act this year will be Springsteen – A Tribute. A fantastic band who will bring us all The Boss’s hits and have us rocking into the night.
Castlebar town will be the place to be this August Bank Holiday weekend where music will be heard throughout the town in every venue and staggered times to allow all visitors to ramble through the town enjoying all the different genres and styles from established and new talent.
The organisers are delighted to have Breaffy House Hotel, The Ellison Hotel and First Choice Credit Union back on board as our main sponsors.
And if any other local businesses would like to become sponsors, please contact the committee through the festival's social media pages.
They are also thrilled to be partnered by The Connaught Telegraph and CRC Radio, without whom all the updates, information and news from the event could not reach as many people as it does.
Of course it takes a lot of money to fund the event, and in order to raise all that is required, the organisers are holding many fundraisers and selling advertising on the Showtime Digital Truck that will be seen throughout the town on the Bank Holiday weekend.
"We have a group of volunteers hitting the streets and calling into all local businesses with details of the advertising/sponsorship packages, so please take the time to consider the options and support this community event.
"One of our best fundraisers last year was our GoFundMe page. People were so supportive and without them, we would not have been able to cover the costs.
"Anyone who would also like to volunteer to help with our fundraising, please message the group through their social media pages," a spokesperson added.
