Mayo business features at prestigious exhibition event in China

Glen Keen Farm, located along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo, proudly represented Ireland on the global stage as Catherine O’Grady Powers travelled to China to participate in the prestigious Hainan Consumer Products Expo.

During the visit, Catherine showcased Glen Keen Estate Irish Cream Liqueur and Glen Keen Estate Whiskey at the Ireland Stand, highlighting the rich heritage, craftsmanship, and premium quality associated with Irish produce.

The trip marked a significant milestone for the business, further strengthening its position in international markets and exploring new opportunities for growth in Asia.

A highlight of the visit was Glen Keen Estate Irish Cream Liqueur receiving a Bronze Award at the Global Gift Awards, a strong endorsement of its quality and unique character.

The award ceremony was attended by Ireland Deputy Ambassador Barry Mulligan, whose presence underscored the importance of Irish representation at the event.

Catherine O’Grady Powers expressed her appreciation to those who made the visit possible.

“I would like to sincerely thank the Embassy of Ireland in Beijing and Bord Bia for their exceptional support and organisation throughout the expo. A special thank you also to Mayo Local Enterprise Office for their continued encouragement and backing of our international growth journey.”

She also acknowledged the role of the host nation in creating such opportunities.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Chinese Government for facilitating such a world-class event. The experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and it is clear that there are significant opportunities in China for Irish businesses looking to diversify into new markets.”

The Hainan Consumer Products Expo provided a valuable platform to connect with international partners and explore collaboration opportunities. Hainan, in particular, is emerging as a dynamic hub for global trade, offering strong support for international companies seeking to cooperate and co-produce with local partners.

Reflecting on her first visit to Hainan, Catherine added:

“It was an honour to represent Ireland at such an important event. I was truly impressed by the island’s natural beauty, the exceptional food, and the warmth of the welcome we received. I very much look forward to returning.”

This visit reinforces Glen Keen Farm’s commitment to sharing the story of Irish heritage, sustainability, and premium quality products with a global audience.
