Mayo team book place in FAI Women's Under 17 Cup semi-finals

Ballyglass FC's quest for national honours continues after they won their FAI Women's Under 17 Cup quarterfinal on Sunday.

Away to Co. Clare side Avenue United, the Mayo girls progressed to the semi-finals on a 1-2 scoreline.

The game saw a tight first half, where Ballyglass created a few chances, but no goals resulting.

However, they made a stronger start to the second half, with Katie Corcoran getting on the end of a good through ball after five minutes to put them one up.

And the things got even better just three minutes later when Corcoran again had the ball in the back of the Avenue net.

The hosts regrouped and pulled a goal back about 15 minutes into the half and they had a few chances to grab a second as the game progressed. But after the water break on a hot, sunny Sunday, Ballyglass regrouped and got going again, and they could well have added to their tally as they put in a fine team performance to run out winners.

Next up is a home semi-final on May 24.
