Tributes to much loved Mayo businessman on his passing
The death has taken place of Pat (Patsy) Fadden, Westport Road, and formerly of Hollyhill, Castlebar.
He died peacefully at Mayo Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
News of his passing has evoked a huge sense of loss and sorrow in the community.
A much-loved and popular personality, he was the founder of Fadden's Mens Fashion Shop at Linenhall Street, Castlebar - a business that has since evolved into Fadden's For Men at Breaffy Road in the county town.
During his time in business, he took immense pride in his shop, ensuring the frontage was always spick and span and frequently updated his window display with the latest of fashions at the most competitive of prices.
Most of all, he had a wonderful relationship with his customers, always ensuring they left his shop happy and satisfied with their purchase and the value their received.
It was also a source of pride to him that his wife, Anna, ran a ladies fashion shop next door, the Fadden family being such an integral part of the commercial life of the county town.
Announcing his passing, the Fadden family stated: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Dad, Pat Fadden (Patsy).
"Above everything else, Dad loved his family deeply. All he ever wanted was to see his children and grandchildren happy.
"He was the kindest, gentlest man you could ever meet — a true gentleman who never spoke badly of anyone and always saw the good in people.
"To us, he was our greatest hero, our guide, and the best father anyone could ever wish for.
"While our hearts are broken, we are so grateful for the incredible life he lived and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.
"His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with so many people.
"We would also like to sincerely thank the incredible staff at Mayo Hospice, along with all the doctors, nurses and carers who looked after Dad with such kindness, compassion and dignity over the past few months.
"Rest peacefully Dad — you will be missed beyond words and loved forever.
"Pat Fadden (Patsy). Forever our hero."
Fond tributes are also being paid to him on social media.
One stated: "He was a true gentleman, hard working, principled, good humoured and so committed to his family.
Another said: "A fine gentleman I had the honour to work for years ago, thank you for the kindness and good times, we had many a laugh."
A further tribute observed: "A very nice man to deal with down through the years."
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
