Car missing wheel nut when stopped by Mayo traffic unit
A CAR stopped by gardaí in Mayo as part of their bank holiday road safety campaign was found to be missing a wheel nut.
The Mayo roads policing unit was on patrol on the N17 yesterday evening when they stopped the vehicle.
The NCT had expired on the vehicle a number of months ago, along with the tax. Asked about the NCT, the driver was taking a 'It'll be grand' approach to renewal.
However, all was not 'grand', gardaí reported, as the motorist was missing a wheel nut from the front left driving wheel - essential for vehicle safety, securing the wheels to the vehicle.
The vehicle was seized and gardaí issued a reminder to all motorists to ensure their vehicles are in road worthy condition.
The roads will be much busier over the May bank holiday weekend and we all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe, said a spokesperson.
