Complaints about 'sharp' new Mayo speed bump

A SPEED bump in Murrisk is proving to be a little 'sharp'.

Councillor Johnny O'Malley has personal experience of the bump, which has been the subject of a number of complaints from members of the public.

He raised the matter at a municipal district meeting where the ongoing road works in the village were welcomed. However, this aspect needed to be looked at.

“I drove over it on Friday and surely, it stopped me,” said Councillor O'Malley, who confessed: “I wasn't expecting it to be that sharp.”

He wasn't going fast but there was concern that someone might hit it at night and go off the road.

Better warning was needed to highlight the bump, a point Councillor Chris Maxwell agreed with.

The members were told the bump has been referred to the relevant section for review.
