Central Mayo community launching sustainable energy master plan

BELCARRA Community Co-Op and Belcarra Community Council are launching a sustainable energy master plan for Belcarra, a plan shaped by the incredible efforts of the local community to build a more sustainable future.

The initiative was developed in collaboration with Dr. Orlaith Nic Suibhne, sustainable energy mentor, and Laurence O'Reilly of O'Reilly Energy Consulting.

Covering over 45km and 400 plus homes, the plan sets out real actions to improve energy use across Belcarra.

The launch will take place tomorrow evening (Thursday, May 7) from 6 to 7 p.m. in Belcarra Community Centre.

Councillor Sean Carey, cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, will be on hand to officially launch the plan.

Highlights on the night include a presentation of the energy master plan, information on SEAI home energy grants, and displays on solar energy and one stop shop services

The local Foróige club in Belcarra will also showcase their project on sustainability and mindfulness.

All are welcome to come along, learn more, and be part of Belcarra’s sustainable future.
