Photography exhibition to launch new nature group
A NEW nature and wildlife group for the Clonbur area will be launched on Saturday, May 16, supported by a landmark exhibition by local wildlife photographer Shay Doran.
The free event, called Wild for Clonbur / Fiáin don Fhairche, is being organised by Clonbur Cloghbrack Community Council as part of National Biodiversity Week 2026.
The exhibition, at Clonbur Community Centre, will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the launch - plus a Q&A with Shay Doran - will take place at 8 p.m.
Community council member Ed Coulson said the new group’s aim is to 'celebrate, support and enhance the wildlife and natural habitats of Clonbur and its hinterland, from its woods, lakes and rivers, to its gardens, roadsides, and fields'.
He added: “What better way to launch this initiative than with Shay’s incredible photographs, which capture our local wildlife in its natural habitat in stunning detail - something that has taken him years of patient tracking and observation.
“Nobody should miss the chance to see these images up close - and hear some of the fascinating and hilarious stories behind the shots!”
As well as planning further events such as guided walks, talks, workshops and family activities, the new group will also coordinate the implementation of a local biodiversity action plan published last year by Clonbur Cloghbrack Pride of Place.
