Mayo public art work lost in bushes

A PIECE of public art in Claremorris is lost in vegetation and needs to be given a proper setting.

Located at the top of a hill near the Seamus O'Malley roundabout, the modern art work is 'smothered in the middle of bushes' and it's of no benefit to the community, says Councillor Richard Finn.

The art work was put in place by TII when the bypass was being constructed and it was a nice feature, he said.

However, it needs to be taken down nearer the roundabout or have a proper plantation system around where it is so it can be viewed.

Speaking at a municipal district meeting, the councillor again expressed his views about trees along roads, how they grow up and smother everything around them.
