Living and farming after a loss event for Mayo farming community
Embrace FARM, an agricultural bereavement and loss charity, has invited farm families and those who support them to a free Mayo information evening around living and farming after a loss.
The event is for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one, whether through accident, illness, injury, or suicide, on or off the farm. Grief is not defined by the amount of time passed and all are encouraged to join, no matter when their loss may have been.
The event will take place on Friday, May 15, from 7 p.m. in Aghamore Community Centre, F35 AT21, and is an open community event for Mayo and the surrounds.
The evening will have talks around succession planning with Clare O’Keeffe from Succession Ireland and bereavement support by Caroline Redmond from Embrace FARM. Light refreshments will also be served.
Lisa Tierney from Embrace FARM said: “There is immense grief within farm families across Ireland, and we want to highlight the support available to them when living and farming with loss. The evening will hopefully remind these farm families that they are not alone, sitting alongside those who understand their grief the most.”

Embrace FARM was established by husband and wife Brian and Norma Rohan in 2014, following the tragic loss of Brian’s father Liam in a farming accident.
The not-for-profit organisation is the first of its kind to support the farming community and families of Ireland who, like them have experienced the impact of serious injury and sudden death. Each year, an ecumenical remembrance service takes place for those who have suddenly lost a loved one in the farming community.
