Mayo based child development centre launches speech group

Sensational Kids’ Connacht Child Development Centre in Claremorris has announced the launch of an “R” Sound Group, designed to support children aged 6 years and over who require support in producing the “R” sound.

The programme will run throughout June, July and August, offering six weekly sessions in small groups of four children, with each session lasting 45 minutes. The group will be hosted and facilitated by a CORU registered Senior Speech and Language Therapist using evidence based intervention approaches.

The “R” sound is one of the most complex and last sounds to develop in childhood. While younger children may still be developing this sound, persistent difficulties have the potential to impact a child’s speech clarity and confidence in school and social settings.

This small group programme will allow children to practise, build skills, and gain confidence alongside their peers within a supportive environment through focused, evidence based intervention.

The programme costs €300 per child for the full six weeks (€50 per class). Places are limited due to the small group format, and early booking is encouraged.
