Mayo club receive shock walkover in Irish soccer's blue riband series
Castlebar Celtic have received a walk-over into the second round of the FAI Senior Cup.
It follows the shock news that their first round opponents, North End United, have conceded the match despite the potential consequences.
The clash between the Mayo Super League champions and the Wexford side, newly-crowned champions of the Leinster Junior Cuo champions, was due to take place next Saturday.
It is understood North End took the dramatic decision because of a glut of fixtures facing the side.
However, it's a big blow to Castlebar Celtic hoping to raise funding via home gate receipts.
A spokesperson for the Mayo club said they received notification of North End's withdrawal earlier today.
An official confirmation is due to be made shortly.
