Mayo golf club lady captain's charity day raises €6,000

AN amazing day was enjoyed by a large number of ladies and men for lady captain Helen Heneghan's charity day at Castlebar Golf Club.

Helen's chosen charities were the Alzheminer's Day Centre in Castlebar and St. Anthony's Special School in Castlebar, raising €6,000 - an amazing achievement.

The day was wonderful, with plenty of sunshine - perfect for all the golfers.

Results of the 18-hole ladies competition were: 1st Mary McHale 42, 2nd Fionnuala Lavin 40, 3rd Sinead Farrelly 37 (B9), gross Breege Finnerty, 4th Bernie Bourke 37, 5th Pauline McNally 36, 6th Sharon Tolan 35 (B9), 7th Mary Rose McNulty 35 (B6), 8th Nuala McGowan 35.

Ladies nine-hole competition: 1st Denise Coen 20, 2nd Helen Parsons 19, 3rd Jennifer Hiney 18, 4th Ann Barker 17.

Men's 18-hole competition: 1st Adrian Gavin 38 (B9), 2nd Denis Gallagher 38. Nine-hole competition: 1st Gerard O'Malley, 2nd Seamus Gibbons 20 (B9).
