Expanded Citylink services for Mayo are confirmed

Irish Citylink, part of the ComfortDelGro group, has announced a significant investment in public transport services for County Mayo, with approval granted by the National Transport Authority to introduce additional daily return services connecting Mayo with Galway, Dublin and Dublin Airport.

The service expansion will include three additional daily return services on the Ballina-Galway route and two additional daily return services on the Castlebar-Dublin/Dublin Airport route, delivering improved frequency, flexibility and choice for passengers across the county.

The enhanced Ballina-Galway services will support key Mayo towns and communities including Ballina, Foxford, Ballyvary, Castlebar, Balla and Claremorris, providing stronger links to Galway city for commuters, students, Free Travel Pass holders, families and leisure passengers.

The additional Castlebar–Dublin/Dublin Airport services will further improve Mayo’s connectivity to the capital and to national and international travel links, supporting passengers travelling for work, education, healthcare, tourism and onward journeys through Dublin Airport.

The new timetables will come into effect on Sunday, May 24, with tickets available to book via the Irish Citylink website from Friday, May 22.

Irish Citylink is a leading provider of mass passenger transport in the West of Ireland, connecting towns and communities across Mayo with Galway city, Dublin city, Dublin Airport and other key regional destinations.

The company operates as part of the ComfortDelGro group, one of the world’s largest multi-modal transport operators, with operations across 13 countries and a global network of more than 55,000 vehicles.

The additional Ballina-Galway services follow the recent withdrawal of Expressway services on Route 52 and will help to maintain important public transport connectivity for Mayo communities along this corridor.

Regional General Manager Sarah Comer said: “This announcement represents a significant boost for County Mayo and for the communities we serve across Ballina, Castlebar, Foxford, Claremorris and surrounding areas.

"We are pleased to be expanding services that will provide passengers with greater frequency, affordability and flexibility when travelling to Galway, Dublin and Dublin Airport.

“Reliable public transport is essential for regional life. It connects people to work, education, healthcare, tourism, social opportunities and onward national and international transport links.

"This investment reaffirms Irish Citylink’s commitment to keeping communities connected and ensuring passengers have safe, dependable and convenient travel options across Mayo.

"We are proud to support the towns, villages and cities we serve by providing frequent, affordable and high-quality passenger transport.”
