Outbreaks of rain on the way for Mayo on Monday

Monday will get off to a dry start in Mayo, with any overnight mist and fog clearing during the morning.

There will be some bright or sunny spells early in the day but cloud will gradually build, with outbreaks of rain moving in from the southwest during the afternoon, turning heavy and persistent in places.

It will be milder than Sunday.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Light variable winds will veer southeast ahead of the rain, increasing moderate to fresh and gusty through the afternoon, with strong winds developing near the west coast towards evening.

Monday night will be wet, with widespread outbreaks of rain gradually clearing northeastwards.

Scattered showers will follow from the southwest, turning heavy at times.

It will remain mild overnight, with lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will be cloudy with widespread showers turning heavy and persistent at times, and a moderate to occasionally fresh southwest wind.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Wednesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered light showers early on before turning cloudier from the southwest through the day, with highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees.

Thursday looks dull for most, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle possible, and temperatures of 14 to 18 or 19 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Further rain and showers are likely on Friday.
