Mayo village's bus terminus restored
CONFIRMATION that the TFI Route 450 bus service will again operate from its terminus at Lourdie's in Dooagh, Achill, has been welcomed.
Many local residents had raised concerns after the terminus was removed earlier this year.
Service resumed at the stop yesterday morning.
Minister of State Alan Dilon said the decision to restore the stop is very welcome news for Dooagh and the wider Achill community, pointing out: “People depend on this service to get to work, school, appointments and local services.”
The restoration of the terminus will make a real difference for local people and visitors, he said.
“I worked closely with the National Transport Authority to get this resolved,” said Minister Dillon. “I am pleased they have now confirmed that the full service to Dooagh is being restored with immediate effect.”
Reliable public transport is vital for rural communities, he added.
“This is about making sure people in Achill have access to the services they need,” he said. “I will continue to push for strong, dependable transport links across Mayo.”
