Double joy for Bombers and Town in Mayo Under 17 finals

A double double was completed at Umbro Park, Milebush, on Sunday in the Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Mayo Under 17 Girls Cup and Shield finals.

Both Ballyvary Blue Bombers and Castlebar Town added to their league titles when winning their respective cup and shield in two thrilling finals.

Ballyvary Blue Bombers edged out Westport United 3-2 in a pulsating Under 17 Girls Cup final, making it Premier Division and cup double success this season.

Lucy Carolan delivered a starring display, netting a brace to clinch the cup in the dying moments of a clash that had drama right to the final whistle.

Castlebar Town added to their Division One league title when they emerged as deserved 3-1 winners against Manulla in the day's earlier Under 17 Girls Shield final against Manulla.

Although Manulla made a late push for victory in the second half, it proved to not be enough to topple a very strong Town side.
