Eight Mayo primary schools are taking part in this year's ESB Science Blast
ESB Science Blast Limerick 2026 is taking place at the University of Limerick, where 108 primary schools across 14 counties in Ireland prepare to engage with STEM learning experiences. Eight schools from Mayo are taking part and they are: Ardagh NS, Crossmolina NS, Culleens NS, Kinaffe NS, St. Colmcilles NS, St. Feichins NS Cross, Tavneena NS and Quignamanger NS.
ESB Science Blast, which concludes on May 21, asks entire primary school classes to investigate a question they are curious about and to present their findings at a showcase day. During the showcase events, students talk to STEM experts about their investigations and receive constructive feedback. They also attend science themed shows and visit interactive stands in the exhibitor’s area.
To date, over 100,000 primary school children have taken part in ESB Science Blast events. The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) which delivers the programme, aims to develop STEM confidence in the next generation. An inquiry-based approach promotes the development of creativity, critical-thinking, collaboration, and communication.
