Funding approved for infrastructure in Mayo
Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, has today confirmed that three pieces of marine infrastructure in the county are to receive funding under the 2026 Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme.
The allocations are as follows: €135,000 for Ballina Quay – Accessibility Pontoon and Chair Lift; €112,500 for Rosmoney, Westport – Slipway and Pontoon; €75,000 for Purteen Pier – Stabilisation.
This annual scheme supports capital investment in coastal infrastructure owned by local authorities, including pier and harbour repairs, slipway upgrades, safety enhancements, and the development of marine leisure amenities.
Minister Calleary said: “I am delighted to confirm this funding which will provide essential support for marine infrastructure in the county, delivered through Mayo County Council. The funding is in addition to the support that is being provided by my own department to carry out emergency works at Roonagh Pier.
“I want to thank Minister Dooley and Minister for Agriculture, Martin Heydon, for their support with these projects in the county.”
