Mayo set for hottest days of the year

Summer is set to hit this weekend with temperatures rising over the next few days.

Friday will bring a mild and cloudy start to Mayo, with patches of mist and drizzle clearing through the morning to give way to sunny spells.

Some sharp showers are possible in places during the day. Highest temperatures will reach 17 to 20 degrees, with light to moderate southwest breezes.

Friday night will be dry and cloudy with mist and fog possible in areas. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, in light southwest or variable breezes.

Saturday looks set to be a largely dry day with warm sunny spells developing and no more than moderate southwest winds.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees generally, though coastal fringes will be a little cooler.

Sunday will be another warm day with spells of sunshine, though some cloudier skies will build at times.

Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees, in light southerly or variable breezes.

Into next week, high pressure looks set to dominate, bringing a continuation of the settled spell with warm or very warm conditions on a southeast continental airflow.
