Mayo car park reopens today after upgrade works

THE Mill Street/High Street car park in Westport is ready to open later today, Councillor Peter Flynn has confirmed.

The car park has been upgraded over the past number of weeks, with a new safety barrier installed along with resurfacing and line marking and an improvement to the lights.

The carpark includes segregated pedestrian access along the ramp to the laneway at Paddy Powers and from the greenway ramp down to Mill Street, making it significantly safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

The car park is ready to open later today, said Councillor Flynn, with some small bits of work to be done over the coming week, but it is ready for the busy season ahead.

Councillor Flynn extended thanks to the Westport Municipal District team, the contractors and to the businesses and members of the public for their patience.
