Achill Island Sea Salt launch new visitor experience and ‘Sáile’ wellness range
ACHILL Island Sea Salt has officially launched its newly redeveloped visitor experience.
Its new ‘Sáile’ wellness range was also launched at a special event held at their factory in Bunacurry on Achill Island.
The launch of the new visitor experience by Dara Calleary, Minister for Social Protection, Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, marks a significant new chapter for the award-winning business.
Guests from across the tourism, food, enterprise and community sectors attended the event, which celebrated Achill Island Sea Salt’s continued investment in innovation, sustainability, visitor engagement and product development.
The redeveloped visitor experience offers visitors a unique insight into the story, heritage and process behind Achill Island Sea Salt, tracing the journey from the harvesting of the pristine Atlantic waters surrounding Achill Island through to the finished sea salt product. The redevelopment project was supported through the ST3ER EU Programme and BIM FLAG Programme.
The event also marked the official launch of ‘Sáile’, a new wellness range developed using a magnesium rich by-product of the Achill Island Sea Salt production process. The innovative collection which includes a luxury body lotion, bath soak, magnesium body oil and facial spritz has been developed with support from Údarás na Gaeltachta and reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and maximising the potential of natural Atlantic resources.
In addition, the business unveiled its new Achill Island Sea Salt brand identity, supported through Skillnet Taste 4 Success, alongside continued investment in digital innovation supported by Údarás na Gaeltachta.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Calleary praised the ambition and innovation demonstrated by the company.
“Achill Island Sea Salt is a fantastic example of an innovative rural and Gaeltacht-based business that continues to evolve, diversify and grow while remaining deeply connected to place, heritage and sustainability,” he said.
“The launch of this new visitor experience and the development of the Sáile wellness range demonstrate the enormous potential that exists within rural Ireland and along the Wild Atlantic Way. I want to congratulate the entire team on this important milestone and wish them continued success into the future.”
Co-owner Maebh O'Malley said the launch represented years of work and development for the business.
“We are incredibly proud to officially launch our new visitor experience and the Sáile wellness range here on Achill Island,” she said.
“This project has allowed us to further enhance how visitors engage with our story and production process, while also enabling us to continue innovating through sustainable product development.
“We are very grateful for the support received from the ST3ER EU Programme, BIM FLAG, Údarás na Gaeltachta and Skillnet Taste 4 Success throughout this journey. Today marks an exciting milestone for our business and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the factory in the years ahead.”
