Gardaí confirm seizure of unlicensed taxi vehicle in Mayo

Gardaí in Mayo have detained a unlicensed taxi in the Castlebar area.

It followed an intelligence-led operation involving compliance officers from the National Transport Authority along with members of Mayo Roads Policing Unit.

The vehicle was seized and a court prosecution is to follow.

The National Transport Authority will continue to proactively target, investigate, prosecute and to eradicate the illegal provision of unlicensed services to the public by unlicensed drivers and vehicles, a garda spokesperson added.
