Mayo GAA club to receive €2million in funding

Minister Dara Calleary has confirmed that Knockmore GAA Club is to receive €2million in funding from the Immigrant Investment Programme (IIP).

Minister Calleary received confirmation of the funding from his colleague Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan.

Minister Calleary said, “I am absolutely delighted for chairperson Liz McHale and the executive committee of Knockmore GAA and LGFA who have worked hand-in-hand with me on this application from the outset of the process. The diligence of the committee, working with me and my office, has brought this proposal to this very exciting and significant conclusion with €2milion earmarked for development works at St. Joseph’s Park.

“The proposed project will involve the construction of two all-weather pitches (one full size and one juvenile size), the addition of LED floodlighting on all the pitches, the construction of two spectator stands and associated works. I want to thank my colleague Minister O’Callaghan, who met with Knockmore GAA officials during a visit to Ballina a number of months ago, for his commitment to this proposal and I am very excited to see the development move to construction and completion in the months ahead. A development of this magnitude will serve the community of Knockmore well into the future and I am delighted to have played my part in achieving it.”
