Sunflower Days campaign to raise funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice
Preparations are well underway for Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement’s, 36th annual Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, with the on-street collection taking place in Mayo and Roscommon on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13, to raise funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.
You can support Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation by purchasing some of the fantastic sunflower merchandise that the volunteers will be selling in towns across Mayo. You can show your support too by donating online via the website here. There is also still time for schools, preschools creches and Montessori’s to get involved by hosting a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day during June with registration still open on the website.
Speaking about the upcoming Hospice Sunflower Days on-street collection, Miriam O’Callaghan, Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador, said: “With just a few days to go until the on-street collections for this year’s 36th campaign, I would encourage everyone to help make a difference by purchasing some sunflower merchandise or by donating online via the website. All funds raised locally, stays locally so your support really does impact your local palliative care services.”
Speaking about the upcoming Hospice Sunflower Days on-street collection, Martina Jennings, CEO, Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, said: “We are calling on the public to support Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation by purchasing some sunflower merchandise from our volunteers to help us raise vital funds. There is also the opportunity once again for the public to donate online via the website, with all funds raised going towards your chosen hospice or homecare service.”
Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement, represents 24 Hospice and specialist palliative homecare providers supporting patients and their families across Ireland. These services provide free-of-charge care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, while also offering assistance to the patient’s family members. Hospices nationwide need to raise approximately €20 million each year to provide their patient centred care and as our population ages, demand for specialist hospice and palliative homecare services continues to grow. Fundraised income is used by local hospice services to fund new buildings, refurbishment of existing buildings, staff, extra comforts for patients and their families, and innovative patient care projects nationwide.
Funds raised through Together for Hospice campaigns support some of the core services funded by the HSE. That is why fundraisers such as Hospice Sunflower Days are so important to hospices and homecare services throughout the country.
