Funding of over €21,000 for Mayo arts centre
Minister of State Alan Dillon has welcomed funding of €21,240 for the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, under the Cultural Capital Scheme, which supports the upgrading and development of arts and cultural facilities.
Minister Dillon said: “The Linenhall Arts Centre is one of Castlebar’s most valued cultural institutions, a place where creativity, community and artistic expression come together. I am delighted that the Linenhall will receive €21,240 to upgrade and enhance its facilities. This investment will help the centre continue its vital work, expand its artistic capacity, and future proof its operations through more sustainable infrastructure.
“Capital supports such as Stream E of the Cultural Capital Scheme play a crucial role in strengthening our arts and cultural infrastructure across the country. Investing in arts and culture facilities ensures the arts are accessible within our communities and supports the continuity of these centres for future generations.”
Minister Dillon also thanked his colleague, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, for his leadership in delivering this important support for the sector.
This funding forms part of a wider €228,065 investment across eight arts and culture organisations, aimed at strengthening cultural infrastructure, enhancing creative capacity, and supporting organisations in reducing their carbon footprint in line with Government climate commitments.
Minister Dillon added: “The Linenhall’s allocation will support essential upgrades that enhance the centre’s facilities, improve visitor and artist experience, and contribute to long term sustainability, ensuring it remains a vibrant cultural hub for Castlebar and the wider region.”
