Mayo village has a bus shelter but no bus
A BUS shelter without a bus - that's the situation that has arisen in Straide, according to Councillor Michael Kilcoyne.
He heard on the radio that the bus is no longer stopping at the stop in Straide, he told a municipal district meeting this week.
Pick-ups are now in Foxford, which has no shelter, and the other nearest bus stop is in Ballyvary, he explained.
Councillor Kilcoyne asked the council to follow up on the matter, saying it appears that the number of buses leaving Ballina has dropped from 10 to six.
He was told council management will make contact with Bus Éireann about the matter.
Councillor Kilcoyne: There is a bus shelter but no bus.
Councillor Cyril Burke: Build it and they will come.
Councillor Kilcoyne: They built it and they went.
