Rain and showers to mark bank holiday weekend in Mayo

A cloudy and at times wet bank holiday weekend is on the way for Mayo, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle arriving on Saturday morning before conditions become more showery through the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 15 to 18 degrees, with light to moderate southerly breezes, fresh at times near the west coast.

Saturday night will bring a mix of clear spells and showers, heaviest and most frequent in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Sunday will see variable cloud, sunny spells and scattered showers, turning cloudier from the southwest later in the day with patchy rain and drizzle developing along Atlantic coasts by evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, with light to moderate southwesterly winds. Rain and drizzle will spread overnight, with lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Bank holiday Monday will start mostly cloudy and damp, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle breaking up into showers and sunny spells as the day progresses, some of which could turn heavy. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees in moderate southwest to west winds.

Looking further ahead, a changeable and at times unsettled Atlantic regime will persist through the week, with daytime highs in the mid-teens generally.
