Speed bump in Mayo village is working

ISSUES remain with a new speed bump in Murrisk, which is proving to be a little too bumpy for some, a local councillor has highlighted.

Motorists have complained about it being too sharp, and Councillor Johnny O'Malley had thought something was being done to make it flatter.

If people hit it there will be an accident, he warned at a municipal district meeting, where he asked about signage to slow traffic down.

Councillor O'Malley was told the bump has been referred to the tourism section on numerous occasions and they confirmed the works have been done to the relevant standards, and there will be no more additions to it.

Area engineer Heather Gibbons said: “The speed bump is working because it is slowing the traffic coming into Murrisk and that is the whole purpose of it.”
