Extension plan for west Mayo cemetery approved

PLANS for an extension of the cemetery in Murrisk have been approved by local councillors.

The extension will have 360 double burial plots, on lands at the rear of the existing cemetery.

A Part 8 planning application in respect of the extension came before councillors at their monthly municipal district meeting for approval.

It is an important project, said Councillor Peter Flynn, who described the number of additional plots as 'significant'.

The extension was welcomed by Councillor Chris Maxwell who expressed words of thanks to the council.
