Penalty heartbreak for Mayo girls at Gaynor Cup

THERE was penalty heartbreak for the Mayo girls at the Gaynor Cup in UL this lunchtime.

In another next-door neighbours contest, Mayo and Sligo-Leitrim couldn't be separated in regulation time as both of these well matched teams cancelled each other out during an intriguing goalless draw.

And there was just the minimum of difference in the penalty shoot-out too as Sligo Leitrim shaded it 5-4.

Mayo now enter the Bowl competition, with the draw to follow shortly.
