A golden moment as Mayo primary school dominates national chess event

Pupils from Castlebar Primary School have achieved outstanding success at the CheesZ National Primary Schools Chess event in Tipperary.

The school dominated the competition, securing first-place finishes in both the Open Champions League and the Girls Only League.

In the individual categories, Castlebar students took home the Individual Open Championship title, alongside both gold and bronze medals in the girls' individual competition, the individual titles being won by Pierce Nestor (gold), Annabel Joseph (gold) and ​Emily Scully (bronze).
