Best Gastro Pub in Mayo has new lunch offering as summer kicks off
JJ O’Malley’s on Bridge Street, Westport, is now open for lunch from 12 p.m. daily, giving both locals and visitors a new lunchtime option in the heart of town as the summer season gets underway.
Best known for its warm atmosphere, delicious food, live music and upstairs dining space, JJ’s is now putting a stronger focus on daytime dining, with a lunch offering built around lighter dishes, local ingredients, daily specials and a relaxed, welcoming setting in the centre of Westport.
The new lunch service began this Tuesday and is expected to add a fresh dimension to the venue’s food offering during one of the busiest times of year for the town.
Among the dishes currently featured on the menu are Westport Seafood Chowder, Prawn Pil-Pil, JJ’s Crispy Fried Chicken Burger and Local Mescan Beer Battered Cod and Chips, with daily specials also set to form part of the lunchtime experience.
Owner Tom Bourke said: “Summer in Westport brings a great buzz to the town, with locals, day-trippers and visitors all looking for somewhere with good food, a warm atmosphere and a real sense of welcome.
“Opening from 12 p.m. now gives people another reason to call into JJ’s, whether that’s for a light lunch, a catch-up in town or something more relaxed in the middle of the day.
“We’ve put a strong focus on quality ingredients, good service and creating a place people want to spend time in, and lunch feels like a natural next step for us as we head into the summer season.”
JJ O’Malley’s has already enjoyed a strong year, having earlier been named Best Gastro Pub in Mayo at the Irish Restaurant Awards, and the new lunch launch builds on that momentum as the team looks ahead to a busy summer of food, music and hospitality.
With live music continuing each evening, the new lunch service is designed to broaden the JJ’s experience and make the venue an all-day option for people spending time in the town.
JJ O’Malley’s combines a traditional pub atmosphere with an upstairs restaurant and private dining space, offering a mix of casual daytime dining and lively evening trade in one of Mayo’s busiest tourism hubs.
