Details of Men's Health Week in Mayo are announced
From Monday June 15, to Sunday June 21 next, communities and organisations across Mayo will come together to mark International Men’s Health Week 2026.
This year’s theme, “One Step At A Time - Progress not Perfection”, highlights the importance of supporting men to make relevant lifestyle changes to support their own health and wellbeing.
Across County Mayo, a diverse programme of events will offer men of all ages the chance to engage, learn and to take proactive steps towards better health.
Laurence Gaughan, Regional HSE Project Lead for Men’s Health Week commented: “Men’s Health Week provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of preventable health problems, support men and boys to live healthier lives and encourage them to seek help or treatment at an early stage.
"In County Mayo, a very strong partnership has been established across statutory, community and voluntary organisations, all working together to continue to raise awareness of men’s health generally and promote this annual coordinated focus.”
The week kicks off at Balla Mart on Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m. with FREE CROI health checks and information stands.
Áras Inis Gluaire in Belmullet is the venue for a Men's Health lunchtime seminar on Monday, June 15, with guest speakers, information stands and free health checks.
The week continues on Tuesday, June 16, at Ballina Mart and a Men’s Health morning at Westport United grounds in Westport at 10 a.m.
On Friday, June 19, a major outdoor lunchtime event takes place at the Square, Claremorris, featuring entertainment, information stands and FREE CROI health checks.
An additional event this year is an online webinar entitled ‘Men and Alcohol’ which takes place online on Tuesday, June 16, at 10am with guest speaker Dr. Brian McNicholl, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, University Hospital Galway.
Ms. Anne Ronayne, Healthy Ireland County Co-ordinator added: “Mayo County Council is delighted to work in partnership with the HSE and the many other organisations who have contributed to the calendar of events.
"The focus this year is on bringing initiatives and services to men at community locations. We hope that as many men as possible will engage with us during the week.”
