ESB launch new EV charging facilities on N17 in Mayo

ESB has strengthened electric vehicle charging infrastructure on the N17 with the launch of a new charging hub in Ballindine.

Conveniently located at the Texaco Service Station on the outskirts of Ballindine, the new charging hub in features two 100kW high power chargers allowing up to four EVs to charge at one time.

The hub is equipped with contactless payment, ensuring a seamless and accessible charging experience for all EV drivers.

ESB continues to expand its public EV charging network across the island of Ireland, supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles. The network includes more than 60 high power charging hubs nationwide, designed to reduce journey times, minimise wait periods and improve driver confidence on longer routes.

Commenting on the expansion, Sinéad Kilkelly, executive director, people and sustainability, ESB, said: “The N17 is a vital transport corridor connecting Galway, Mayo, Sligo and the wider northwest, and Ballindine’s position along this busy route makes it a key stopping point for drivers.

“By investing in EV charging infrastructure at strategic locations like this, we’re supporting a growing rural network that complements essential local amenities while making longer EV journeys more reliable, convenient, and accessible for those travelling between major towns and through smaller communities.”
