Fond Mayo tributes to Mary Fahey on her passing

The death of Mary Fahey (Gibbs), (née Gibbons), Pound Road, Castlebar, and late of Tiernaur, Mulranny, Westport, has evoked an immense sense of loss in the community.

She will be remembered always by her wide circle of friends and anyone she met for the joy and uninhibited fun she brought to life.

Warm tributes are being paid to her on social media.

One stated: "I had the privilege of working alongside Mary in Baxter. What a lady she was, she brought many a laugh and lots of joy to many people who were blessed in her company. It really was a joy and a blessing to have known her."

Another said: "I really enjoyed meeting Mary over the years and having the opportunity to chat to her about all sorts of subjects. I always found her to be a very smart, fun loving and witty lady."

A further tribute observed: "Mary was such a joyous soul. Always a lovely smile and hello whenever I met her. She was precious gem and the nicest person."

Predeceased by her parents Bridie and Paddy and infant daughter Bridie, she will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her sons William and Mike, daughters Mary and Jean and their father Michael.

She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Andrea and Anne and her beloved grandchildren James, Diarmuid, Roisin, Isabelle, Bobby, and Sadie.

Mary will rest in repose at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral arrives at St Brendan's Church, Tiernaur, on Monday at 11.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12 o'clock .

Burial takes place afterwards in Killeen Cemetery.
