Man who drove wrong way down Mayo street is fined for breaking red light
A Galway man drove the wrong way down a Castlebar street and broke a red light.
Ross Greaney, aged 26, of Ballinapark, Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, pleaded guilty to careless driving when he appeared before a sitting of Castlebar District Court.
The court was told that on the evening of November 15, 2025, gardaí observed Greaney driving the wrong way down Rush Street in the town.
The car continued on and drove through a red light on Lucan Street.
The court was told Greaney is not from Castlebar and did not know the traffic system. He is apologetic for his actions.
The defendant has five previous convictions for road traffic matters.
Judge Ciaran Liddy imposed a €250 fine for the breaking of the red light offence.
