Mayo lifeboat volunteers honoured with long service awards

TWO of Achill RNLI's most senior crew members have been honoured by the RNLI at an awards ceremony in Clontarf Castle.

Sean Ginnelly, coastal lifeboat trainer and coxwain/mechanic at the Achill Island lifeboat station, and Patrick McNamara, coxwain/mechanic, were both presented with an RNLI 20 Year Long Service Award at a celebration of volunteers from stations all around the country.

Achill RNLI described Sean and Patrick as 'an inspiration' to many of the recent people who have joined their crew.

“They are always at hand to offer help and advice and pass on their vast knowledge and skills gained over 20 years as lifeboatmen.

“We congratulate them on their awards and thank them for their unwavering dedication and commitment to Achill RNLI lifeboat over the past 20 years.”
